Recycling Bins for PlantPets

After a thorough beta testing, today we are officially releasing the recycling bins for plantpets. We would like to thank all beta testers again for the very helpful comments and ideas!

We are releasing 5 different recycling bins simultaneously in the PlantPets Main Store and on the SL Marketplace. The difference between the 5 bins is in their capacity, i.e. the number of plantpets that can be recycled by the bin. The bins with capacity 1, 3 and 5 plantpets respectively are not transferable and the bins with capacity 10 and 15 plantpets respectively are transferable. All bins in the PlantPets Main Store are 10% off for members of the group PlantPets Premium.

The recycling bins can be used to “recycle” growing plantpets to transferable plantpet seeds. Growing plantpets has not been transferable since the beginning of the PlantPets project. With the recycling bins a non-transferable plantpet can be exchanged to a transferable seed of the same plantpet. This also applies to limited edition plantpets! The recycling operation simply exchanges a plantpet for a seed. No pending babies or any parameters of the growing plantpet are preserved.

The actual bin sculpts and textures were made for especially for PlantPets by RedPoly! We thought that some breeders may want to use the bins for decoration. For this purpose we included an option to switch off the floating text and the large circle around the bin. When the recycling bin is idle (i.e. not searching for plantpets, collecting data or recycling) it can be switched to deco mode by touching the label on the lid. In deco mode the circle around the bin becomes transparent and the floating text disappears. From deco mode the recycling bin can be switched back to work mode by touching the label on the bin again.
